Christian: Contemplating the Shared Life of Roberto Fiad

I have suffered from existential vacuums throughout many years of my life. I wondered if my life could have been a mistake. Many things I aspired to didn’t work out as expected. And at other times, when I did succeed in achieving some goal, I later wondered, “Is this it, and is this I struggled for so hard?”

Other times, I simply lacked purpose.

This morning, halfway through this year, more than half of my year in life as a sixty-year-old man, the cure to all this purposelessness came. It helped that last night; I saw a video on YouTube that truly shed lots of good light.

The narrator of the video said that whatever you aspire to, whether it’s to embark on some great project or a relationship on someone, putting God first is the first order of business. But then he, the narrator, went further and explained what it was all about.

You’re not going to give up on some dreamed thing you aspire to. It isn’t like that – that putting God first is about. NO.

Instead, you pray that this thing you want be something you will receive and participate in – that it be for the glory of God, not just your pleasure, or enjoyment, or you getting actualized in Life. Whatever good thing comes out of your getting what you seek, make it all about what you’re getting this – which all this be about God being glorified by your receiving, you’re succeeding, and you’re getting what you’ve been seeking.

What does the above have to do with my life then?

It applies perfectly.

If I make my life all about me alone, then my life will have been lived and then it will just end. I will have been just another human who came, walked on the Earth for a while, and then just died away. Was here, then gone. No purpose, no mission, no significance, no worth.

So what if my whole life rather than just a period of time on the Earth for a while, a long, long while, or a shorter one, make that one life count. Make this whole journey called my life, the life of this one guy, this one man – let it be not just the life of this one dude. No. Make it, instead, the shared life.

Let the life I live, let this life be both God’s Life and my life, the shared life. Let it be a life lived to the glory of God. That means this life means. It signifies something; it stands for something bigger than just one guy walking the earth. It, the life I live, it is a shared life, a shared partnership between the Most High God and this one dude. It is a life that glorifies Him, satisfies Him mainly that this project that he took on, is more than just one man living on the Earth for a number of years, and then he just dies.

NO, NO, No.

This is the golden opportunity to upgrade the meaning of it. It doesn’t matter whether you’re just a kid, a teenager, a person in your twenties, in your midlife period, in your fifties, or sixties, or even eighties or nineties.

It doesn’t matter! As long as you’re still alive, it’s never too late to hitch your life to God and make your regular life a shared partnership between the Most High God, the Almighty Father, Creator of Heaven and Earth, and you.

You’ll be plugging into God through Jesus Christ. And when this happens, your otherwise, possibly insignificant and misunderstood life will take on a purpose beyond anything beyond whatever you could ever expect it to result into.

Look at Just how Unfair this Life is

The unfairness of life. So many of us complain that life is unfair to us when something that we did nothing to earn some hardship or some obnoxious situation befalls us. And the proverb that “No good deed goes unpunished,” is at the heart of how unfair life is.

Life can be usually cruel to each one of us, and it is.

None of us asked to come into this world, and yet we come to this world, and unfortunately, we come into it born in sin on account of Adam’s disobedience. That seems so unfair to me.

But so many of us, have sinned horrible, including me. My sins have been many. Some of them have been less wicked than others. I plead guilty. Lies I’ve told, women I had sex with and to whom I never married, things I’ve coveted that rightly belonged to others. And these, the ones I’ve just admitted to, have been among the least bad ones. Others I’ve committed, some of those others, I don’t even remember nor want to remember.

According to God, even one of them is horrible enough to land me in the Lake of Fire for eternity. But I’ll never see it nor experience it, nor enter it.

Why?

Because of how unfair this life is. How unfair it is that I, who deserve to perish and burn for all eternity, will never, ever pay that just price.

I will never pay that just, and very earned, penalty on account of how unfair, how horribly unfair this life is.

Someone paid for my sins. What’s worse is that this someone never committed even one single sin. Not one.

And yet, this one person, the only person who never deserved to suffer for the sins of others, for the sins that I did, He paid the full price. He went through Hell for me. Literally. His beard got plucked with pliers, a crown of thorns was pressed down on his brow, his body was mutilated with countless strikes from a Roman soldier using the cat of nine tails whip. He was forced to carry that horrible and heavy cross down the Via Dolorosa to the hill of Golgotha. He was insulted, beaten, clubbed, spit upon, tortured, stripped naked which is the ultimate insult for a Jewish man, and then was nailed to that cross with spikes.

And hung there, and forgave all His enemies who stood and hurled insults at Him. Then He died. Then Longinus, a Roman centurion drove a spear into his side to make sure that He was really dead.

Two days later, He rose again from the dead with the resurrected body on the power of the Holy Spirit.

Not a single one of my countless sins against God was heavy enough to prevent His resurrection.

Not a single sin of anyone else could prevent His resurrection.
Then God the Father exalted Him. The Son is to be honored as much as the Father. He sits at the right hand of God the Father.

Jesus Christ is God the Son.

He is my God the Son. Yes, he died for my sins, and yes, I worship Him as I worship God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.

Meditations upon 2 Timothy 1:7

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

If you ponder the news stories regarding the aftermath of the rise of President Trump with how the Trump haters have reacted, in such a state and spirit of hate, and how irrational have been their communications in public, and their anger, and rage, you may be wondering how things have come so far.

I see not just rage and hate, I see fear.

When events go well for the President, his many enemies reaction hysterically.

Is there an antidote that Trump haters insist on disregarding with these irrational and crazy reactions, such hysterical outbursts of reaction?

So appropriate to meditate this verse these days – is this verse. And why is this beginning statement the truth? What do you think?

Let’s go straight to the verse itself. Let’s look at the flip side of it for those who would disregard it.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, as not given us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Let’s not begin analyzing with the discussion of the spirit of fear.

Instead, let’s begin to analyze the verse by understanding that very flip side.

We’ll start talking about the spirit of fear that is the fruit, the consequence, the result if you will – of not fear as its own source but rather that the spirit of fear is the end result or outcome of oneself giving one’s own mind and heart to a spirit of hate that pulls in the entrance inside of you of a spirit of unsound or irrational mind, which produces the next to last spirit: this is the spirit of powerlessness, the spirit of weakness, the spirit of impotence.

Now that the spirit of impotence is inside you and influential in you, that then produces the spirit of fear taking possession of your soul.

If you look at this as a chain reaction, you begin with a spirit of hate; that produces a spirit of irrational mind or craziness or unsound mind; that then proceeds forth to produce the spirit of impotence or weakness or powerlessness.

Finally, after that progression of spirits entered you, the spirit of fear takes over inside you.

It all begins with hate. It ends with fear. It doesn’t begin with fear and leads to hate.

The original hate leads through a progression of evil spirits that result in fear, which then proceeds to multiply the original hate into many hates, or creates new hates inside your soul.

If you give yourself over to hate, you’re inviting evil spirits that will bring in spirits of unsound mind, which will bring in spirits of impotence, and bring in spirits of fear. And these spirits will multiply themselves over and over again many times – inside you.

If you want evidence of how these progressions unfold, look at the news. Look at how Trump haters crumble and how they present themselves Things don’t go well for haters.

If you want evidence of how these progressions unfold, look at the news. Look at how Trump haters crumble and how they present themselves. Things don’t go well for haters.

If you want to keep your mind sound if you want to successfully ward off the spirit of fear from taking over you in the inside, focus on the Love of God.

Keep your mind and heart focused on that Love of God if there’s not enough Love inside you to keep Hate out.

The instant that Hate gets inside you, you’re toast.

The First Passover from the Book of Exodus, Jesus Christ as the Second Passover Lamb, and the Second Death Awaiting All Unbelievers Today

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already because he hath not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God.

John 3:16-18

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever opened the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine.

3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand the Lord brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten.

4 This day came ye out in the month Abib.

5 And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.

6 Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to the Lord.

7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.

8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt.

9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Lord’s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath the Lord brought thee out of Egypt.

10 Thou shalt, therefore, keep this ordinance in his season from year to year.

11 And it shall be when the Lord shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee,

12 That thou shalt set apart unto the Lord all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be the Lord’s.

13 And every firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb; and if thou wilt not redeem it, then thou shalt break his neck: and all the firstborn of man among thy children shalt thou redeem.

14 And it shall be when thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What is this? that thou shalt say unto him, By strength of hand the Lord brought us out from Egypt, from the house of bondage:

15 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the Lord slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the Lord all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.

16 And it shall be for a token upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt.

17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:

18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.

19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straightly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.

20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.

21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

22 He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.

Exodus 13: 1-22

I began this article by putting together two scriptural passages; one of them is the greatest of them all from the New Testament.  The second one is from the Old Testament book of Exodus which narrates in part the First Passover that preceded the Hebrews’ departure from slavery in Egypt.

Many of us believers in God who are Gentiles perceive the First Passover as a strictly Jewish event that cannot possibly concern us at all.

Many of us believers in God, those who are of the Jewish faith and who do not recognize Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, as the Promised Messiah, do not identify with the verse regarding Life Everlasting as a gift for only those who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior.

At first look, there appears that no possible connection ties these two passages together except that both come from the Bible.

And yet together they very much belong, and the remainder of this article is written to show how and why they belong very much together.

The factor, the What, that does drive these two passages from the Word together struck me and led me to tie them in together came to me a little while ago, this very afternoon.

12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast.

14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

“Bible Gateway Passage: Revelation 17:12-14 King James Version”. 2018. Bible Gateway. Accessed December 16, 2018. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Revelation+17&version=KJV

To tie everything together, in order to make everything so far presented understandable, it is important to answer: Why is Jesus Christ called the Lamb?  In what way is Jesus Christ the second Passover Lamb?

“The sacrifice of lambs played a very important role in the Jewish religious life and sacrificial system. When John the Baptist referred to Jesus as the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29), the Jews who heard him might have immediately thought of any one of several important sacrifices. With the time of the Passover feast being very near, the first thought might be the sacrifice of the Passover lamb. The Passover feast was one of the main Jewish holidays and a celebration in remembrance of God’s deliverance of the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. In fact, the slaying of the Passover lamb and the applying of the blood to doorposts of the houses (Exodus 12:11-13) is a beautiful picture of Christ’s atoning work on the cross. Those for whom He died are covered by His blood, protecting us from the angel of (spiritual) death.” 1

1 “What Does It Mean That Jesus Is The Lamb Of God?”. 2018. Gotquestions.Org. Accessed December 16,2018. https://www.gotquestions.org/Jesus-Lamb-of-God.html.

It is said that those who are born twice (once physically and once spiritually) will suffer just one death, while those who are born but once (physically) suffer two deaths. We all have a choice—salvation in Jesus, or our own will which is in rebellion to God. Scripture tells of a time of judgment in which those who reject Jesus will suffer and those who accept Him will spend eternity with Him. This is a warning for some, and an encouragement for others to share their faith. 2

2 “What Is The Second Death The Bible Talks About?”. 2018. Compellingtruth.Org. Accessed December 16, 2018. https://www.compellingtruth.org/second-death.html.

The Ancient Egyptian kingdom were the ancient Hebrews were held as slaves then refers to the world at large, the world of unbeliever. Since they did not partake of the Passover, since their homes were not painted with the blood of lambs, the angel of death struck there, at their homes, and their firstborn were taken from them.

The angel of death who during the Passover killed the firstborn of the Egyptians today represents the Second Death, he represents the perishing  into the Lake of Fire forever, of all those who today and since Christ died on the cross have not accepted Jesus Christ, they lack the presence of Jesus Christ’s precious blood upon them.

If they repent while they’re still living, then they will also acquire the presence of Christ’s precious blood upon them.  Once they acquire it, the angel of Death will skip over them as well.

There will be no Second Death for any of those who today accepts Jesus Christ as his or her own Personal Savior.  It will be as if, back then, during the Exodus era, some Egyptian had joined the Hebrews and spent the Passover with them in faith.

If that Egyptian had been the firstborn son of some Egyptian family, even though that Egyptian had descended from the bloodline of a heathen Egyptian family, because that Egyptian shared the faith of the Hebrews, and was with them when the Angel of Death passed by, he too would be spared and not taken.

That hypothetical spared Egyptian back then is equivalent to the sinner of today who repents and accepts Jesus Christ as personal savior. Then Jesus would take all of his or her sins away and impute upon him or her, the righteousness of God.  Jesus at that moment claims that former sinner as His own and God’s own adopted son or daughter.

Thus, by now, you can probably tell that Jesus Christ becoming the accepted personal Savior of all sinners today is the equivalent of that poor lamb back during the time of Moses and Exodus that was sacrificed and which blood was smeared on posts and doors of Hebrew homes that death would skip over them and move on.

I did accept Jesus Christ as my savior.  I recognize that without Him and His sacrifice for me, I’d be lost, I’d perish and perish forever. The eternal separation from God, the Second Death, would claim me too.  There would be no hope for me at all ever if I died in my sins, without having grabbed onto the olive branch that God offered me in the form of being saved by Jesus Christ. That’s the only hope there is.

Grab it while you’re still alive, while there’s still enough time for you too.

The One True God is also Satan’s God

Satan wants to be his own god but cannot. The demons under him also want to be their own gods and they cannot.

Satan did not even create himself. He was originally not even Satan but the archangel Lucifer.

He, along with all the other angels, was created by God to serve Him. As he, Lucifer was originally perfect in all his ways, he may have been a faithful servant to God for a time. How long he was faithful and obedient to God, even worshipping Him as His God willfully and not grudgingly as he does now – is not documented in the Scriptures.

Moreover, in the cases of Job and Simon Peter, the former Lucifer and now Satan along with his demons grudgingly worship God, including Christ Jesus. He cannot defy God head on. Nor can his follower demons, the other fallen angels, defy God (including Christ Jesus) head on. He has to beforehand obtain consent from God before moving against anyone serving God. Sometimes, as in the case of Job, he obtains a limited amount of consent. Other times, as in the case of Simon Peter, consent is denied.

In the case of the demon-possessed man, a legion of demons demonstrated enormous distress upon being confronted by Jesus. They were a legion, many in number, and yet they could not prevent the demon possessed man to fall and worship Jesus.

They couldnt. Jesus was and is omnipotent, almighty. Hes the one who turned what was a large number of beautiful angels into repulsive demons. They couldnt stop him.

Upon facing Jesus who had come to exorcize them out of the man, they asked Him to his face what they had to do with him. They feared He had shown up early to cast them into the Lake of Fire ahead of schedule and this terrified them all. Obviously, in this account of a confrontation between Jesus and the demons, the demons themselves revealed how impotent, how weak, powerless they were against Him.

Moreover, when the man fell to worship Jesus at His feet, all the demons were still inside him. This tells me that they recognized Jesuss authority as God over them all. You can tell how powerful someone is, how much authority Jesus actually had in Himself by how fearful and how reverent the demons were upon coming face to face with Him.

Moreover, in the book of acts, a number of men who were false believers confronted a demon-possessed man themselves. The demons in that man saw through their charade that they were not acting on Gods behalf for the demons recognized the spiritual authority of both Jesus and Paul, a bonafide apostle of Jesus.

The demons didnt see or detect any of the blood of Jesus on any of them. The demons did the false believers some injury and drove them out naked.

Moreover, Jesus Christ also said that in Satan there is no truth. Jesus, being God, said this and having all authority over all spirit beings most likely said it for it had to have been Him who stripped the devil of the capacity to say any truth.

When Lucifer was still an archangel, he was required to speak truth for he was an anointed cherub. After God cast him out and turned him into a devil, the ability to say the truth was taken away from him. Thats what Im thinking.

It also is written in the book of Revelations, that Satan and the other fallen angels will be cast into the Lake of Fire that God prepared for them all.

With good reason, the legion of demons in that demon-possessed man was paranoid when Jesus appeared before them to cast them out of him.

Thus, if the former archangel Lucifer and all of the angels who joined him in the revolt against God were powerless to prevent God to convert them from beautiful angels into repulsive beings, to take away their capacity to tell the truth, to paralyze them whenever Jesus appeared before any of them, to compel them to ask permission before making a move against a servant of God or any apostle of His, its obvious that the Devil, Satan, and all of the demons with him – are subject to worshipping God and that they learned this the hard way, through defeat at His hands.

1The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,

Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:

Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee:

With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures:

By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches:

Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God;

Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness.

They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.

Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.

10 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord God.

11 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

12 Son of man, take up a lamentation upon the king of Tyrus, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God; Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty.

13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

14 Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

This is not an earthly king, as the word “cherub” is only used in references to angels.

15 Thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created, till iniquity was found in thee.

16 By the multitude of thy merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast sinned: therefore I will cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.

17 Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.

18 Thou hast defiled thy sanctuaries by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.

19 All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.

Ezekiel 28:1-19

Lucifer was the Anointed Cherub. Anointed means to be set apart for Gods Divine purpose. It also means “bestowal of Gods divine favor”, and “appointment to a special place or function.”

God had given Satan a certain amount of power and authority. But he perverted that power. Lucifer wanted to exalt himself above God… rather than “just” being the Angel of God.

Like man, the angels were created perfect, and with a free will.

Satan was lifted up because of his beauty, he corrupted the wisdom by reason of his brightness (This is in Ezekiel 28:17)

Isaiah 14:12-13

6
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.  7
And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 8
And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 9
Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?  10
Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11
But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. 12
And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

Job: 1:6-12

And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.

17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
